Meet Dr. C
Dr. Sheryl Coglaiti is a New Orleans native whose professional journey has always been rooted in how the brain learns—and how to help it learn better. Her academic foundation is extensive. Dr. Coglaiti earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and her Master of Education in Educational Administration and Supervision from Nicholls State University before completing a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Literacy at Louisiana State University. Her doctoral work focused on literacy, belief systems in learning, and the neurological processes involved in reading development. She also holds certifications in Mild/Moderate Special Education, Reading Specialist, and Educational Diagnostician, and is a National Board-Certified Teacher as a Middle Childhood Generalist.
Over the course of her career, she has taught students at every level—from first grade through graduate school—and has received awards for teaching excellence at both the international and state levels. Most recently, she served as an Assistant Professor of Literacy Education with a specialized focus on dyslexia. While her roots are in structured literacy, Dr. Coglaiti’s work evolved as she noticed a consistent pattern among struggling learners. Many were bright and capable, yet held back by difficulties with organization, planning, working memory, time management, and emotional regulation. She realized that even the strongest reading instruction cannot fully take hold without strong executive functioning—the brain-based systems that manage how we initiate, organize, focus, and follow through. That insight reshaped her professional focus and ultimately led to the creation of The Brain Hub, where executive functioning development is the core of everything she does.
Today, The Brain Hub specializes in strengthening the brain’s management system through individualized, research-driven strategies. Services include: executive functioning performance development, comprehensive educational evaluations in collaboration with psychologists and medical professionals, and structured literacy intervention when appropriate. Dr. Coglaiti also integrates advanced technologies, including Cogmed Working Memory Training, Play Attention neurofeedback-based attention training, and MindPrint, a sophisticated cognitive assessment platform that reveals how an individual’s brain processes and performs.
She recently completed Brain Clinician training with world renowned psychiatrist, Dr. Daniel Amen, ensuring her practice remains aligned with the most current neuroscience-informed approaches.
Dr. C leads The Brain Hub in Mandeville, LA, a specialty branch of Pierce Counseling Collective, where she offers personalized brain-based programs—including Mindprint Learning Profiles, Executive Functioning Coaching, and Cogmed Working Memory Training—to help students overcome challenges and succeed with confidence.
